Fr Valerian Shirima SJ is a Tanzanian Jesuit who has served as Provincial of the Eastern Africa Jesuit Province, and President of the Jesuit Superiors of Africa and Madagascar (JESAM). Fr Shirima’s work, since becoming a Jesuit in 1970, has focused on education and pastoral work.
He is currently on sabbatical in Toronto.

Fr Michael Schultheis SJ is a Jesuit who has been working in Africa for over forty years. Devoted to higher education, Fr Schultheis was the first president of the Catholic University of Ghana, and is currently the
Vice-Chancellor of the Catholic University of Sudan.

Fr Marco Bagnarol is a Consolata Missionary who has been working in Africa too. As a pastor in Uganda, he was instrumental in the construction of aqueducts, digging of wells, and construction of schools and churches. Devoted to a deep universal vision, Fr Bagnarol has been back in Toronto since 2004. He is working on the translation of hundreds of books in English, like Fr. Renato Kizito Sesana’s successful “I am a Nubian” (the story of a Comboni missionary on the side of a people who are fighting to keep from disappearing), and building bridges
