Intercultural Dialogue Institute

We live in a world of ever-increasing interdepend-ence between nations, but, paradoxically, of growing enmity between cultures, religions and social groups. A lack of knowledge about other traditions and beliefs can be a catalyst for antagonism between individuals and groups when forced to live in close proximity. The same can be true on a global level, where the media often becomes the only way groups and com-munities are exposed to each other.
As IDI, we believe that exposure to different cultures and faiths will build mutual understanding between groups and individuals and contribute to peaceful interdependence. Cultural and religious understand-ing must be generated among individuals in and be-tween their neighborhoods, religious communities, and workplaces. In congruence with these state-ments, we are pursuing intercultural and interfaith initiatives to encourage and support local authorities and community groups in managing their religious and cultural differences to bring about collaboration rather than conflict.
Headquartered in Toronto, with currently operating 9 chapters; we are committed to improving the dialogue and harmony between cultures, ethnicities, and communities throughout the nation.
The objectives of the IDI have been achieved largely due to the support we have received from other organizations and/or individuals who have seen value in the projects carried out by the IDI. We have organized many events over the last several years aimed at uniting Canadians of various backgrounds through engaging them in programs and projects such as conferences, cultural exhibitions, religious excursions and youth and family oriented short and long term initiatives.
The success of the activities implemented by the IDI owes much to those people who have lead their communities to engage in intercultural and inter-faith activities and support the IDI when invited to embrace events fusing Canadians.
We will endeavour to contribute to sustainable and peaceful coexistence amongst all communities both nationally and globally.

From all of us at the IDI, we extend our warmest wishes of health, joy and peace to all.
